Overbrook, Kansas — 2023
Photography by Jamaica Jones
The barn at Saltwell Farm rises in red wood and pale limestone, its angular roofline cutting cleanly into the open Kansas sky. Weathered siding holds years of sun and wind, while the stone foundation anchors the structure firmly to the land.
The composition centers on form and material: vertical wood grain, pale limestone, and the strong diagonal of the roofline. Built without ornament, the barn reflects a kind of quiet durability—architecture shaped by function, weather, and time.
Still Ground explores landscapes shaped by long-term care and natural cycles. Prairie, cultivated land, stone, water, and rural structures appear as environments held in quiet continuity. Rather than dramatic moments, the series focuses on presence—what remains, what recovers, and how land holds memory over time.
