Title: Rings in Orbit

Series: Interventions
Location: Clinton Lake, Kansas
Year: 2021
Medium: Archival Pigment Photograph
Artist: Jamaica Jones

Illuminated steel rings stand against open prairie and silhouetted trees, their circular forms suspended within the deepening evening sky. Light traces the geometry, separating the steel arcs from the darkening horizon.

Photographed at the Freedom Rings installation near Clinton Lake, this closer view emphasizes both scale and material presence. The smooth curvature of the steel contrasts with the irregular prairie landscape — rings set against grass, tree line, and fading light.

Rather than dominating the scene, illumination softens the structure. The installation reads less as monument and more as orbit — a gesture of form briefly held within the glow of sunset before dissolving into dusk.

Interventions documents moments when human-made forms enter the landscape deliberately yet temporarily. Sculptural installations, structures, and artistic gestures alter perception without replacing place. The series observes how geometry, material, and light interact with the surrounding environment, revealing shifts in scale, movement, and atmosphere over time.
