Location: Denver Botanic Gardens, Colorado
Year: 2014
Medium: Archival Pigment Photograph
Artist: Jamaica Jones

Tall, flame-like glass forms rise from ornamental grasses, their reds and ambers intensified by soft daylight. The sculpture moves upward through the frame, each element echoing the vertical rhythm of the surrounding landscape.

Photographed during a temporary installation at the Denver Botanic Gardens, the image emphasizes scale and placement. Brilliant glass structures stand among living plants, their color and movement amplifying the garden environment rather than overpowering it.

Though materially solid, the forms appear animated — glass behaving like flame, reed, or wind-driven growth. The installation becomes less an object and more a moment of energy within the landscape.

Interventions documents moments when human-made forms enter the landscape deliberately yet temporarily. Sculptural installations and built gestures shift scale, light, and perception while remaining in dialogue with their surroundings. The series observes how material, geometry, and atmosphere reshape the experience of place without erasing it.
